Abstract

This article presents the case of a one-year-old child with acute inflammation of the pancreas which was caused by a cholesterol gallstone, which was stuck at the site of an anomalous junction of the ductus choledochus and the pancreatic duct. Acute pancreatitis is very rare in such small children. The causes, symptoms, signs, diagnostics and treatment of pancreatitis and possible interventions for congenital anomalies of the gall bladder and pancreatic ducts are discussed.

Key words: child, acute pancreatitis, gallstone, anomalous junction of the choledochal and pancreatic ducts.
