Abstract
The author presents the formation and development of palliative care as a field of health care, the definition of paediatric palliative care, the appropriate time to institute this type of care, and whereto carry out it. The author also presents the large team of experts that should be involved in the care of the patient and his or her family. The article concludes with an explanation of the most frequent myths in paediatric palliative care.
