Abstract
Minor wounds are very common in children. Most of these wounds can be managed by primary paediatricians and surgical referral is not required. Wound management is described in this article in three clinical cases. The most common types of wounds in children are lacerations, bite wounds and burns. Wound management consists of cleaning, debridement, haemostasis, wound closure and wound aftercare. Tetanus and rabies prevention, as well as appropriate antibiotic usage for wound infection prevention and treatment, are also important components of wound management.
