MYOCARDITIS SECONDARY TO SALMONELLA INFECTION – A CASE REPORT

Abstract

Myocarditis, an inflammatory disease of the heart, is a rare disease in the paediatric population. It has a diverse aetiology. In the literature, only a few cases of the disease connected with bacterial enterocolitis are described. A 17-year-old boy with acute enterocolitis caused by Salmonella enteritidis infection, with myocarditis as a secondary complication, is presented in this case report.
