Abstract
We present the case of a two-year-old boy, who was referred to the Outpatient Department of the Dermatovenerology Clinic in Ljubljana for the evaluation of an acute onset of multiple small red papules on his cheeks. He had not been ill before the onset. A nasopharyngeal swab (PCR) for Epstein-Barr virus was positive. As the lesions resolved completely in the next two weeks, we did not perform a histopathological examination. Based on the clinical picture, isolated EBV and spontaneous regression, we made the diagnosis of eruptive pseudoangiomatosis. This is a benign, rarely described disease, which most often occurs after viral infections, and resolves spontaneously.
Key words: Eruptive pseudoangiomatosis, child, Epstein-Barr virus, parainfectious exanthema.
