Abstract

Bone neoplasms are an important group of diseases that need to be considered when evaluating a child with hip pain and limping. Benign tumours are the most common. Osteoid osteomas are benign skeletal neoplasms most commonly seen during childhood and adolescence. Patients are affected with nocturnal pain, which is usually severe and progressing and is typically alleviated by salicylates and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Computed tomography is the diagnostic modality of choice. Treatment options are conservative and surgical. The case of a threeyear-old boy with osteoid osteoma of the hip is presented.
