LIMPING IN CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENTS

Abstract

Limping is a common reason for a child to visit a paediatri­cian and has a very wide differential diagnosis. Although most cases are benign and clear up on their own, condi­tions that may be life threatening or treatable to prevent or reduce joint damage have to be ruled out. In the following article a systematic approach to diagnosis, the importance of a good patient history and clinical examination, the use­fulness of laboratory and other tests are presented.
