Abstract

Epidermolysis bullosa is a rare inherited skin disease characterized by blister formation in the skin. Blisters can also appear inside the body, in the mouth, oesophagus, stomach and bladder. The skin is very sensitive to harmful environmental factors to which it is exposed every day. Beside severe skin changes, there are also many other complications. Children with epidermolysis bullosa have to be treated gently and patiently, because every touch is painful. When blisters appear, it is important to prevent loss of body fluid and thus promote wound healing. Besides good care of lesions, nutrition is also very important, since it contributes to faster wound healing and a better quality of life.
