Abstract
Juvenile plantar dermatosis (JPD) typically affects the skin of the distal part of the solesand toes, particularly in children between three and fifteen years of age. The aetiology and pathogenesis of the disease remain unclear, but it is most likely the result of various factors, such as skin occlusion, excessive sweating and atopy. The disease is characterized by flares and remissions and resolves spontaneously during puberty, so referral to a children‘s dermatological clinic is only rarely needed, usually for severe and treatment-resistant disease flares.
Key words: juvenile plantar dermatosis, atopy, differential diagnosis, treatment.
