Abstract

The skin is the largest organ of the body. Its main function is to protect the organism’s internal environment. In addition, various skin symptoms can indicate the presence of numerous systemic diseases. The diagnosis of chronic kidney disease (CKD) is often only made at an advanced stage, when the associated complications of the disease are already present. Skin manifestations in children with CKD are relatively common and may even be the first sign of the underlying disease. It is therefore important to understand the specific and non-specific skin changes associated with CKD and to differentiate them from skin manifestations due to other diseases.
