Abstract

Musculoskeletal pain in children is a frequent reason to visit a paediatrician. There is no need for long term pain management for acute pain as it usually disappears when we eliminate the reason behind it. Pain caused by chronic diseases is long-lasting and needs to be managed separately from the primary disease. Idiopathic chronic musculoskeletal pain syndromes are the most complex to treat. They require a multimodal approach coordinated by a multidisciplinary team and a combination of pharmacological and nonpharmacological approaches to pain management.
